Persistence of Vision

It refers to the optical illusion that occurs when visual perception of light from an object does not cease for some time after the object has stopped emitting light.

This can be understood to mean the same as any of the following effects:

  • Flicker fusion: When light enters the eye at intermittent intervals so that it looks like a continuous stream of light. This frequency is called flicker fusion.
  • Motion Blur
  • Positive Afterimages
